Sewu Temple

Sewu TempleSewu Temple is located in Bener Orchard, Bugisan Village, Prambanan Sub District. Approximately 15 km on the west side from Klaten City. This temple consist of one main temple clamped by 240 Perwara Temples and 8 Apit Temples.

Because there are a lot of temples so it called Sewu (thousands) Temple. The temple was built in IX centuries by a Maha Yana Buddha adherent. It is 14.059.488 m2 width area and has a function as a historic inheritance tourist object. The average visitors about 2000 people every month.

Plaosan Temple

Plaosan TemplePlaosan Temple consist of two groups of temple, they are: Group of Plaosan Kidul (South) temple, this group have got a lot of destruction, Group of Plaosan Lor (North) temple, this group consist of 2 main temples surrounded by 116 Perwara Stupa.

In the room of the main temple there are 6 Dhyani Budisatwa Statues, they are: Awalokiteswara, Wajrapani, Padmapani. Based on the short ancient inscription carved on the Perwara, Plaosan Temple built on the cooperation with King Pikatan and Cri Kahulunan. The unification between Buddha and Hindu. It can be concluded that Plaosan Temple was predicted built in the 9th century.

Central Java Sugar Museum

Sugar MuseumThe purpose of erection of Gondang Baru Sugar Museum in Klaten in the long period hoped as the object of Sugar Industry Research and also as the tourism object. Sugar Museum contains of: Ancient drilling machines and the ancient transportation equipments, the rendemen measurement tools, many kinds of agriculture tools, laboratory equipments,  library brochures and administration files, the miniature of the factory.

Legitimated by Mr. Soepardjo Rustam on September, 11th 1982 by opening the name plate covers written “Prepared Here, The Central Java Sugar Museum”. On August, 23rd 1986, the Sugar Museum got the visits from ISSCT (International Society of Sugar Cane Technologist) that is the expert society of International Sugar, in accordance with the congress in Jakarta needed an observation on the museum.

Kedung Ombo Dam

Kedung OmboThe Kedung Ombo Dam located in Sumber Lawang Sub District. With enlarge 6.576 ha area and the waters land 2.830 ha. The tourists could enjoy the beauty of this dam by fishing, shopping in the fish market, or adventuring by motorboat. It is being developed now the fishing site and fish cultivating and also floating restaurant. Beside that, Kedung Ombo Dam would develop home stay in order to give the different tourism experience.

The main objectives of the Kedung Ombo Multipurpose Dam and Irrigation Project are to increase food production, stimulate employment, control damaging floods, supplement water supplies, generate additional power, and improve water management. The project includes: (a) construction of the Kedung Ombo Dam, appurtenant structures, diversion works, a hydroelectric power and associated transmission line, and three micro-hydroelectric power plants, and associated transmission lines; (b) improving existing irrigation and constructing two new irrigation systems; (c) establishing a flood control warning and water monitoring system for the dam and irrigation operations; and (d) provision of technical assistance for: (i) training in dam construction and safety inspection and in reservoir operation; (ii) design of irrigation works; (iii) surveys for updating classification of land for tax purposes to improve cost recovery; (iv) surveys for monitoring resettlement and compensation payments; and (v) studies for soil and water conservation.
