Entertaiment is the act of entertaining or the condition of being entertained. The word can also refer to an agreeable occupation of the mind, a diversion, or amusement: solving a crossword puzzle, for example; or to a public performance. It has come to be strongly associated with amusement, so that one not uncommon understanding of the idea is fun and laughter, although many entertainments have a serious purpose: see various forms of ceremony, party, religious festival or satire for instance.
The word entertainment is sometimes abbreviated to entmt in industry news publications or on trade show fliers where space is limited. However, the term is usually spelled out in general prose. Entertaiment is often thought to stimulate the brain to realease seratonin and dopamine and to help a person feel good about life.
